A mass community screening for 3-, 4- and 5-year-olds is set for 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 25, at the Underwood Elementary School. Vision, hearing, developmental and speech screenings may be obtained. Interested parents should call the school at 442-3274 to make an appointment.

Book drive underway

Alexis Longtin, a 2009 graduate of UHS, is student teaching in South Africa and requests donations of gently used books for pre-K through 7th grade students there. Amazon gift cards would also be appreciated, which would eliminate shipping fees. Donations accepted at the elementary school, in care of Mary Longtin or Mary Hefta. Deadline is Dec. 1.

Santa’s Helpers needs donations

Food and monetary donations are needed for the Underwood Santa’s Helpers program. Items may be dropped off at the school, area churches, the grocery store or at city hall. Monetary donations may also be brought to the city hall. The food items are given to families in our local communities. The deadline is Dec. 10.
