Indian summer helps harvest

A stretch of sunny days and warmer than normal weather has allowed the corn crop to dry to the point where farmers are able to harvest.

Mercer County Extension Agent Craig Askim said the month of October was miserable for farmers who wanted to get their corn crop out of the field and into the bin. Cold and wet conditions not only kept the crop from maturing, but it was too muddy for farmers to get into their fields.
