County approves oil preliminary transload site expansion plans
The Mercer County Commission approved preliminary plans pitched by Basin Transload representatives to expand their oil transload site just west of Beulah at their regular meeting May 4 in Stanton.
Currently, the transload site along County Road 20 is moving about 5,000 barrels of oil per day from truck to rail, said Ray Sheldon of Basin Transload. The company is examining the possibility of adding about 14,000 feet of rail that could enable the site to move 10,000-12,000 barrels of oil per day on two to three trains per week. The move would create 10-12 good-paying jobs and improve rail service to Mercer County, Sheldon said.
