Warning: Being a Center-Stanton boys basketball fan is not for the faint of heart.

Staying true to their nature this season, the Wildcats used second-half runs and skillful shooting to earn the third place honors during the Region 5 Tournament last week in Bismarck.

But not without a few heart-pounding moments for the fans first.

Shiloh Christian eliminated Underwood the first night of the Regional Tournament and out of the gate Tuesday, the Skyhawks had the same plan for the Wildcats. Shiloh poured in 21 first-quarter points leaving C-S to face a 10-point deficit early.

Wendlin Berger was in position for the putback basket in the second quarter to cut the score to 33-24 and Jacob Henke kept the difference there as he drove the lane but ended with two from the free-throw line.

But Center was losing post players with both Tyler Price and Andrew Anderson on the bench with three fouls apiece.

"We did get ourselves in a pickle with foul trouble," head coach Scott Jung said. "The guys that did come in did a great job of keeping us in the game."

Despite his limited playing time, Anderson had eight of the Wildcats 16 second-quarter points with a 42-27 score going into the locker room. C-S shot only 25 percent (6-24) from the field in the first half and missed all five attempts from 3-point range.

With the starters back on the floor in the third quarter, Anderson drove the lane and put in the second chance shot. The basket was called back and C-S’s senior post was sent to his seat on the bench. Anderson only saw about 19 minutes of action in the game but still got the double double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
