This weekend the Center Merchants competed in the Sam McQuades Charity Softball Tournament held in Bismarck. The Merchants played in the Men’s Rec III Division which consisted of 48 teams and brought home the third place trophy.

Right now there is a pretty intense adult softball league occuring Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday nights. The men’s league plays Tuesdays and Thursdays while the women’s league plays Wednesday nights.

The Washburn-Wilton-Center-Stanton Cardinals finished fourth at the Class B State Baseball Tournament last week. The Cardinals won their opening round game but couldn’t collect another win at the tournament.

In the Region 8 Tournament, Washburn, Wilton, Center-Stanton took on Kidder County last week in the third game of the tournament and came out with a 9-0 win.

Two Center-Stanton High School seniors qualified to participate in the North Dakota State Track Meet. The meet will be Friday and Saturday, May 25-26 at Bismarck State College. The parade of athletes will kickoff the event at 9:30 a.m. Friday.

The Center-Stanton High School varsity track team attended the Hazen Sakakawea Classic May 12 at Hazen. The boys team finished in 11th place with 36 points.

For the second time this season, the highly rated Shiloh Skyhawks were set straight by a leadoff home run from the Washburn-Wilton-Center-Stanton baseball team. This week the morale booster was a missile off the bat of Washburn senior Kirk Sailer.

It was just another game for the Washburn, Wilton, Center Stanton baseball team as they defeated the Shiloh Christian ballers 14-4 on April 23. They had been off for two weeks due to rain and every missed game was a missed chance for head coach Kip Erickson to claim the 100th win in his six years as coach.
