It’s no secret that Washburn-Wilton-Wing-Center-Stanton and Beulah are viewed as two of the region favorites to advance to the state tournament. Beulah’s only loss of the season was to W-W-W-C-S in a five-inning game on the road. Both teams met once again on Monday, giving a possible regional playoff preview.

Things got off to a slow start, but there’s no doubt that the Washburn-Wilton-Wing-Center-Stanton baseball players are moving in a positive direction as the season heats up.

The Center-Stanton track team was busy last week. The team competed in two meets – the Standing Rock Meet and the Sakakawea Country Classic in Hazen on Saturday. The Wildcats had a lot of success in their first meet but strguled to land any placers in the Saturday meet.

Seven members of the Center Barracuda swim team competed at the 2013 State Short Course Swimming Championship last weekend in Grand Forks. Competing for the Barracudas were Ashlyn Haag, Kaitlynne Haag, Tristan Jacobson, Kayleigh Kraft, Breanna Vosberg, Ericka Vosberg and Mason Olander.

The Wildcats have had an arduous season. It hasn’t been easy but the Wildcats fought through a season of growing pains and will be better prepared for the 2013-2014 season.

The Wildcats were the last team in District 10 to make the Region 5 tournament, but they had attained the first part in their early season goal. Another part of that goal was having a good showing at the region tournament.

The Center-Stanton Wildcats made it an early season goal to advance to the Region 5 postseason tournament. The Region 5 postseason tournament route would be decided by the team’s performance in the District 10 tournament. Fortunately enough, the Wildcats had a strong enough performance to advance to the regional playoffs.

The Center-Stanton boys’ basketball team started off last week with a close win but couldn’t hold their momentum for the rest of the week and lost two games, ending the regular season 6-13. The Wildcats lost to Hazen and Flasher on back-to-back nights.

The Center-Stanton Centations competed in four categories at state dance in Grand Forks last weekend. The young squad overcame a bunch of fluttery nerves and made finals in the Pom category. The Centations also had a good showings in Jazz, High Kick and Hip-hop.
