Coal Bowl XXX has a different look

Seven miles, four quarters and 100 yards separate Hazen and Beulah this Friday for the right to claim another year of bragging rights and house the traveling Coal Bowl trophy once again. But in its 30th year, this Coal Bowl is unlike any of its predecessors.

With Hazen moving down to the Class A ranks this season as part of a new two-year realignment in high school football, instead of its annual playoff implications, the Coal Bowl is more of a peek into the unknown. It just may not be apparent in the coaches or players intensity.
