Berglund nominated for national coaching honor

In the state of North Dakota, one is hard pressed to find a more respected or successful high school golf coach than Darrell and Kathy Berglund. Their prestige is spreading past the state line as Darrell was recently named a finalist for the National High School Athletic Coaches Association golf coach of the year. Darrell is one of eight finalists with other golf coaches from Arizona, New Mexico, South Dakota, Connecticut, Illinois and Missouri. Each finalist will present a clinic during the convention and the winner will be announced June 23.

After 29 years as the Hazen head boys golf coach, the nomination is a first for Darrell. Kathy has been a finalist twice, including a nomination in 2009, but has yet to win the ultimate award.
