Titans defeat Bison for fifth straight district title

It seems year after year, no matter how Dickinson Trinity does in the regular season, the Titans will find a way to make sure they are in the District 14 Championship match.

Hazen, however, had the goal of getting to No. 1 seed going into the tournament, and beating Trinity 3-2 on Oct. 14 was how they did that.

As of this past week, the new goal was to get the No. 1 seed for the Region 7 Tournament. No surprise but the Titans again stood in their way.

Bison head coach Kim Wolf wouldn’t have had it any other way.

"You always want to play the best competition you can," she said.

Hazen had the excitement from the get go but Titans only needed a side out to go on a run. Thankfully, Hazen knew how to control the board.

Trinity took advantage of an open sideline top pull away as Wolf called a timeout at 11-17. The Titans may have had the power but Macall Wimer had the reflexes to dig the hammers sent her way like the one right as play resumed. Hazen won the side out and Jenna Maas served three points and added a back-row kill for the Titans turn to take a timeout.
