Cross country displays promise in season opener
With just a single day of school under their belts, the Beulah-Hazen cross country team was off and running with the season opener meet in Jamestown last Friday. And in true Miner fashion, the varsity boys excelled with three runners finishing in the top 100. The squad earned 14th place out of 25 teams. “I was very happy with our first meet results,” head coach Bruce Wold said. “The varsity boy’s competed very well coming in very close to New Town and Bowman.” Shaking off the rust, team leader Jordan Cieslak was again the first blue and gold runner to cross the finish line as he finished 18th out of 146 runners. He paced the pack well with a time of 18 minutes 40 seconds and it was enough to reward the senior with a T-shirt. Josh Enget also finished strong with a time of 20:40 for 70th place followed by teammate Clinton Senn four spots back in 74th with a time of 20:54.
