Half-dozen wrestlers get 6 more minutes

At Saturday’s start there were 11. But by 3 that afternoon, Beulah-Hazen was down to six wrestlers still alive. The veterans, and a few youngsters, showed promise as the Miners will send a six-pack of grapplers to the Class B State Wrestling Tournament in Fargo Thursday through Saturday.

5-point swing deflates Hazen’s upset

Hazen meet Myles Tomlinson. The Turtle Lake-Mercer forward came off the bench to provide a spark Jan. 26. Despite 24 points from playmaker Grant Singer, the Trojans supporting cast of the 5-foot-11 sophomore along with his accomplice Adam Peltier, made the difference down the stretch for the 69-55 win.

Hazen boys basketball coach Randy Johnson knew even before the Center-Stanton team got off the bus Dec. 15 what the game plan was. The Wildcats would work their offense around 6-foot-1 guard Shae Brown. The senior had a hand in either the beginning or more often the end of the offense.
