Raptors descend on Cross Ranch

On Friday evening, raptors descended on Cross Ranch State Park. No not the viscous man-eating dinosaurs of Jurassic Park fame, these raptors were even more exciting and entertaining. The evening’s program would hi-light the fascinating world of the birds of prey, monarchs of the sky. Sponsored by the Cross Ranch Nature Conservancy, the presentation was put forward by Maggie Engler, of the Black Hills Raptor Center of Rapid City South Dakota. Engler, who is the co-founder of the Black Hills Raptor Center, gave a tremendously enjoyable and educational program of the biology and habitats of our area’s raptors, or birds of prey if you prefer.
