Parshall athlete excels in state track competition
Sophomore Wells a double winner at state

In dramatic fashion, Kenny Wells has come through once again for the Parshall Braves, capturing first place in two events at the North Dakota State Class B track meet held last weekend in the Bismarck Community Bowl.
Wells, a sophomore, won the 1600- and 3200-meter runs and although his coach Harlan Johnson believed he could win both events, many in the sporting world were skeptical that he could actually win two events.
But as he has done nearly all season long, Wells’ performance was outstanding in both events. Johnson said this kid is so strong and so focused, it would be difficult for anyone to beat him at this stage.
On Friday, Wells blasted through the 1600, taking first place in 4:27.17, which was nearly three seconds ahead of New Town’s Justin Many Ribs. Cody Christ of Benson County North finished third, Easton Page of Carrington was fourth and Dustin Jundt of Rugby came in fifth.
Another interesting point to make about Wells’ finish is that he was 16 seconds ahead of eighth-place Kyle Volk of Rugby and in that is remarkable, according to Johnson, in a race where there is really no margin for error. It demonstrates the strength of Wells in his running ability.
