Trojans stop Mustangs 42-38

The Trojans girls team evened their season record at six wins and six losses with a win over the Surrey Mustangs Monday night on the home court.
Kelsey Everett was the Trojans’ scoring leader with 12 points. Chantel Urban led the Mustangs with 16 points.
The Trojans started the game scoring 15 points on five three-pointers; Everett scored a pair, Taylor Gahner, Kim Tkach and Sabrina Rust each dropped in one.
The Mustangs answered with six two-pointers that left the Trojans in front, 15-12, at the 4:25 mark of the second quarter.
The Trojans went ahead, 21-13, after a couple of free throws from Rust and a couple buckets from Chloe Bayless.
A triple from Mustangs’ Leah Parizek cut the Trojans’ lead to 21-16. A bucket from Tkach, with 14 seconds left in the half, put the half-time score at 23-16 Trojans.
A slow third quarter saw the teams trade a couple of buckets. Gahner put the Trojans up 32-20 with a triple with 23 seconds left in the quarter.
The fourth quarter started with Everett scoring from the left base line and Tkach tossing in a triple to put the Trojans on top 37-20 at the 7:04 mark.
At the 6:38 mark, Parizek started an 18-1 run for the Mustangs with a triple. The Trojans didn’t handle the Mustangs’ press very well and turned the ball over. They also didn’t take advantage of some scoring opportunities in that stretch
