Trojans stop Holsteins; stung by Hornets

The Trojans’ season record went to four wins and six losses after a 3-2 win over the New Salem/Almont Holsteins and a 3-1 loss to the Harvey/Wells County Hornets.
Chloe Bayless was the Trojans’ kill leader with 14. Sabrina Rust led in assists with 37. Karly Doll led the Holsteins with 7 kills.
Game one was close with nine ties. The Trojans took a 13-12 lead after back-to-back kills from Chloe Bayless and held a slim lead until a couple of mistakes lead to points for the Holsteins.
A kill from Alexa Henke and an ace from Karie Doll for the Holsteins made the score 22-20 Trojans.
A long kill, then a no return and another long kill from the Trojans put the Holsteins in the lead 23-22.
An ace from Doll made the score 24-22; the net violation on the Holsteins made the score 24-23. Haley Zinke tied the score at 24 with an ace.
The Holsteins scored the next two points on a kill from MiKaela Forest and an ace from Lakin Binstock to win the first game 26-24.
The Holsteins led most of the second game until the Trojans scored four unanswered points on a tip from Sabrina Laframboise and then a block from Kaytlin Werth. Sabrina Rust added an ace and a kill from Laframboise tied the game at 14.
The Trojans took a 20-17 lead after kills from Tatum Fylling and Bayless.
