North Dakota’s fall turkey season is set with 4,630 licenses available to hunters, according to Stan Kohn, upland game management supervisor for the state Game and Fish Department.

Cougar golfers continue to improve

The Central McLean Cougars traveled to Bottineau on Friday for a Region 4 match-up and a chance to prove themselves once again. Weather was windy, cold and wet – just the elements to bring out the best in high school golfers.

Cougar baseball hangs on

The Central McLean Cougars baseball team has been making the rounds, playing teams like Max-Sawyer-South Prairie, Beulah, Velva, Shiloh and Hazen. Each game has been testing the teams skills and injuries have slowed progress.

Sports Co-op reviews schedule and policy issues

With several items to discuss, the Underwood-Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky sports co-op held a regular meeting on March 24, a Thursday, at the TL-M School ITV room. 12 members from the schools were present. Supt. Peltier led the meeting that was delayed by a previously scheduled meeting conflict for the McClusky participants.

Holsteins stop Trojans in overtime

The New Salem/Almont Holsteins stopped the Trojans from advancing farther in Region 5 play with a 55-49 over-time win Monday night at Mandan High School.

Trojans District 10 runners-up

The Turtle Lake-Mercer McClusky Trojans girls lost to the Washburn Cardinals, 47-32, in the District 10 championship game Monday night. The Trojans will play the last game of the day at the Region 5 tournament at Mandan High School Mar. 7. Their opponent is yet to be determined.

Trojans eliminated in Region tournament

The Turtle Lake-Mercer McClusky Trojans were defeated by the Standing Rock Warriors 60-55 in the opening round of the Region 5 boys tournament at the Bismarck Civic Center Monday night.

The Trojans girls team was on the bus to Parshall last Tuesday night, Feb.8, where they defeated the Parshall Braves 69-36.

The girls and boys teams combined won five games this past week. The Trojans girls’ team won games against Center/Stanton, 83-31; and Wilton, 51-43.
