Aggies go to 10-1
The Velva-Drake baseball boys tangled with Rugby in a seven inning game last week, and came away with a 4-1 victory. “The pitchers were able to work out of jams and the fielders made plays, so we didn’t give up a lot of runs,” said VD Coach Mike Thingstad. “It was nice to be able to win a game like this. We were able to play a couple more kids and see what they can do, since we had a few gone.” Garrett Wible hit 2 of 3 with a double and 2 RBI and Josh Weidler had a double with 2 RBI. “They gave us four walks and we had some timely hits,” Thingstad said. On the mound, Ty Bruner pitched the first four innings with 4 hits, 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Jon Mack threw two with 2 hits and 2 strikeouts, and Weidler finished up with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. The Aggies will play a make-up game in Surrey on May 12 at 4:10 p.m. It will be a single seven-inning game.
