Velva’s 54-0 rout of New Rockford-Sheyenne last Friday night brought the team’s total points for the season to 262 while allowing opponents only 19 points. Given that, the Aggies seem well on their way to another trip to state.
Friday’s game marked the team’s last home stand, at least until the playoffs begin on Oct. 25. If Velva continues its roll, the Aggies should get to open post season play on their home field, and as long as they win, continue to do so.
In their final home game, Collin Kittelson put up Velva’s first two touchdowns in the first quarter, going 3 yards for the first mark and then pushing it 2 yards for the second. The Aggies were driving downfield when the quarter ended at 14-0, but picked things right back up and scored another touchdown less than 2 minutes into the second period when Kyle Kuntz rammed it 26 yards into the endzone. All three scores were followed by successful PATs off the shoe of Sam Schultz.
