Aggies get their feet wet
The Velva cross country team literally got their feet wet at last weekend’s meet in Jamestown. The race was held at Pipestem Dam, and the course included hills and streams.
“It was a crazy race, up and down hills, through water and across bridges,” said Velva Coach Dave Peterson. “Everyone was muddy and totally exhausted when it was finished. It will be a day these runners never forget. A good feeling of accomplishment.”
The Velva girls finished fifth overall and first out of Class B teams. Kara Kuntz led the pack with a third place finish, followed by Breanne Sherlock in 11th, Katie Odland in 27th and Cassidy Peterson 35th.
There were more than 100 runners in the junior varsity division, and Velva’s Rachel Bail took 47th, Madison Letvin was 55th and Emily Odland finished 57th.
For the junior varsity boys, more than 120 runners took to the field. Velva’s Daniel Kuntz took 28th, Chris Peterson was 32nd and Robert Finneseth had a 69th place showing.
