The Aggie wrestlers did everything from clean basements and haul garbage to sell goodies and clean out tree rows to earn a trip to Minnesota. As a result, they were able to pay for their fuel and expenses for a weekend that included wrestling competition and a trip to the Metrodome for a Minnesota Vikings game.
They departed Velva on Thursday, Dec. 18, and faced off with two Minnesota wrestling squads in a triangular meet on Friday. The Aggies opened against the Fighting Saints of Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunberg, and only three local grapplers came away with wins, leaving the score at 56-16. In their second match, the Aggies faced off against the Litchfield Dragons, led by former Aggie wrestler and coach, Robert Finneseth. This pairing was closer, but the Dragons won 42-30.
