School board, staff reach agreements on salary

It hasn’t come quickly and it hasn’t come easily, but the Hazen School Board and Hazen Education Association gained some ground in negotiations in a special meeting last Wednesday afternoon at the Hazen Elementary School.

After discussion on the percent increase in base salary ranged from a 3.5 percent proposal by the board and a 5.5 percent counterproposal by HEA, compromises were reached on a base salary increase of 4.5 percent as well as a 4.5 percent salary increase for each teacher.
