Want to vote in November?

Mercer County voters take notice: If you want to vote in the November General Election, you have only two options: Vote by Mail or go to the only polling place in the county the Mercer County Courthouse in Stanton. The polls will be open at the Mercer County Courthouse from 9 a.m.-7 p.m., MDT, Tuesday, Nov. 4.

To obtain a ballot and cast your "Vote by Mail," voters must first present a ballot application to the county auditor’s office. This can all be accomplished through the mail, but can also be done in person. More than 6,000 postcard applications were mailed this week to Mercer County residents eligible to vote.

Eligible voters must be United States citizens, have resided in Mercer County for a minimum of 30 days and be 18 years of age by Election Day. This includes military personnel or families of military personnel who have not voted in another election in their new location.

If you received a ballot application in your mailbox, fill in the required information, seal it, place correct postage on it and mail it back. Applications can also be returned in person at the County Auditor’s Office in the county courthouse.

If you did not receive a ballot application in your mailbox, you can obtain one in several ways:

• Simply call the auditor’s office at 745-3292 and one will be mailed to you
• Clip out the application that will be printed by the county in upcoming issues of the Beulah Beacon and the Hazen Star
• Internet online ballot applications are available at http://www.nd.gov/sos by choosing the "Elections" tab or on the Mercer County Web site at mercercountynd.com, middle of the home page, and see "Absentee Ballot Application"

County Auditor Monte Erhardt said applications must be returned to his office at least 10 days before the election, approximately no later than Oct. 24, to allow enough time for the ballot to be sent out and returned by mail.
