Task force to focus on Mercer County flooding

A new Mercer County task force will allow officials to focus both more widely and more closely on flooding issues across the county.

The Mercer County Commission voted to appoint Frank Bitterman as its representative to the new task force after receiving an invitation to join from the Mercer County Water Resource Board. The commission also recommended that the county emergency manager and flood plan administrator be members of the committee. The committee will also have representatives from the communities along the Knife River plus Stanton, which has suffered from overland flooding in the past. The commission authorized a letter to be sent to those communities inviting them to participate.
