County LEPC assists SMC project

Mercer County should be better prepared for future disasters because of the efforts of the county’s Local Emergency Planning Committee.
One major step to prepare for future emergencies took another step forward at the committee’s recent quarterly meeting, held Dec. 9 at the Knife River Care Center. The committee voted to provide $4,000 to Sakakawea Medical Center to convert the hospital’s old ambulance bay into a decontamination unit. Dr. Michael Schmit requested the funds from the LEPC’s Hazardous Materials Fund.
