Preliminary city budget one and done

The Hazen City Commissioners needed only a light snack, instead of a meal as in past years, to make it through their first preliminary 2012 budget meeting Monday at Hazen City Hall.
After their relatively short meeting, the commission is set to finalize the budget for the coming fiscal year at a public hearing Sept. 15.
The city is projecting General Fund revenue of $1,225,850 in 2012, down from an expected $1,286,901 in 2011. The 4.7-percent decrease is due mostly to a projected drop in coal severance tax, city auditor Sandra Bohrer noted.
