The morning of Saturday, Oct. 15, was crisp and clear with a bit of wind. It was the 13th Dakota Feeder Calf Show and the town was busy with the various activities, including the demonstrations outdoors as well as those in the gymnasium-located craft show.

South McLean Soil Conser-vation District needed a new clerk; Brianna Lazier needed a better match for her skills and education. They came together in her new employment as the District’s clerk position; starting in August of this year.

Turtle Lake is in good financial standing at this point in time. During talk about the budget at previous meetings, City Auditor Darwin Saari noted that Turtle Lake has done well financially in the last three years.

Benjamin Seidler added a dose of professionalism in his first days of teaching vocational agriculture. He did it in one fell swoop; he wore a suit to work and helped dispel the old stereotypes of Ag professionals “having to wear jeans” to fit in.
