Investigation continues into Upham deaths
The investigation into the deaths of two Upham residents is still underway by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department.
Nolan Hett, 38, and Julie Lawless, 38, were discovered dead in their rented home on the evening of March 7. Lawless was shot in the leg and stomach, and Hett had one gunshot wound to the chest, leading investigators to suspect a possible murder/suicide.
According to Chief Deputy Trey Skager, the office is still conducting interviews with acquaintances of the pair who saw or spoke to them the night of their deaths. He said the department is still “fairly sure” the incident was a murder/suicide, and noted there was an instance of domestic violence on record for the couple, dating back about a year.
Hett worked for the railroad and Lawless was a home health worker.
