Local folks attend marketing meeting
The North Prairie Farmers Market members attended the Minot “Going Local North Dakota” meeting on Oct. 14, sponsored by the N.D. Department of Agriculture.
The meetings were aimed at promoting the health, economic and social benefits of eating and producing more North Dakota locally grown products.
The series of regional meetings were conducted in October to implement the new initiative encouraging North Dakotans to enjoy a healthier diet by buying locally grown and distributed food products.
“The local foods movement is sweeping the nation, and we hope ‘Going Local North Dakota’ will help the citizens of our state readily access food and food products produced by their neighbors and friends,” said Agriculture Commissioner Roger Johnson at a Tuesday news conference in Fargo. “Everyone – consumers, producers and entire communities – stands to benefit when locally grown and distributed foods become a mainstay of our diets.”
