Paving to begin next week

Posted 5/25/10 (Tue)

According to Dustin Keller of Keller Paving, the final lift of asphalt on Main Street should be going down by next Wednesday, June 2. He said his crews would not be raising the manholes until the beginning of next week, since they didn’t want to leave them that way over the holiday weekend.
This week, Gibbs and Sons should finish changing out all the curb stops, which were not done to contract specifications by Pinky’s Aggregate. There had already been failures with three of the fixtures, so the city commission instructed Keller Paving to dig them all up and replace the copper fittings. There are 21 curb stops along Main Street, and as of Tuesday afternoon, there were five yet to be replaced.
Next week, along with the final lift of asphalt, Knife River will be in town to finish up concrete work and boulevards will be prepped and seeded. Keller said his crews finished the city’s patch jobs Tuesday.
