City commission deals with pets, levee issues

One of the most common complaints registered in Velva is problems with dogs. Dogs barking. Dogs running loose. Dogs defecating on other people’s property.
The Velva City Commission has been working on a solution for several months, and at last Monday’s meeting, had the first reading of a revised pet ordinance.
Basically, the new additions will find pet owners incurring hefty fines, a move the commission hopes will bring pets under control.
