County gravel heading to oil fields

The majority of Bakken Oil fields are located far to the west of Oliver County, but the affects of the boom have already arrived. Most noticeable is the heavier traffic, mainly trucks, traveling through the county and Center.

Coal Conversion Counties share hopes and concerns

Center speed limits changed

The Bakken Oil activity seems to be getting closer and closer to home. Already, Center is experiencing more traffic related to North Dakota’s oil boom. With the four new gravel pit permits approved in the county, city and county roads can expect an even greater increase of truck traffic. Those pits will be supplying some materials to the Bakken region, as well as local needs.
