County election has only two main decisions
Voters will head to the polls next week on Tuesday, Nov. 4 for the 2008 General Election. In Center, polls will be open from 9 a.m.- 7 p.m. CST
While the decisions are many nationally and statewide, locally Oliver County voters have only two decisions – filling two four-year terms on the County Commission.
Present commissioners, Kent Albers, representing District 1, and Dwaine Helmers, representing District 3, are running unopposed as they seek re-election.
Albers, a native of the county and an area farmer/rancher, is seeking his second term. He has served the public in numerous capacities over the years, including as director of the Oliver County Fire Protection District for more than 25 years and board member of the Oliver County SCD.
Helmers, also a county native and area farmer/rancher who is employed at Falkirk Mine, is seeking his third term in office.
Helmers, the present commission chairman, and Albers have worked on several issues within the county including budgeting, roads, area industry including energy and wind power and area economic development.
