CSHS goal: improve ACT

9/17/09 (Thu)

Keeping a watchful eye on the education of young minds at Center-Stanton High School, new Principal Curt Pierce reported Sept. 10 to school board members that Center-Stanton students had lower ACT scores than the state average in some areas of instruction for 2008-09.

That’s a report he wants to improve upon. Twenty-two students from Center-Stanton took ACT tests last year compared to 5,791 statewide. Center-Stanton students scored 20.6 as a composite score compared to 21.5 as a state average. English and mathematics scores were also about 1 percent lower for Center-Stanton students while reading and science scores were about the same. Pierce plans to meet with the staff to discuss these results.
