6/17/10 (Thu)

The official 2010 Primary election results are in.

Voter turnout was below average statewide, with roughly 20 percent of North Dakota’s nearly 503,000 eligible voters casting their ballots. In Mercer County, however, about 44 percent of 5,300 active voters cast their ballots either via mail or at the Stanton polling site on June 8. In the 2008 Primary election, a total of 1,371 ballots were cast.

"It was a very good turnout, I thought," Mercer County Auditor Monte Erhardt said. "There were some races in some cities that I would guess made a difference on the turnout."
