Heller done as legislator

Beulah’s state representative will not run for re-election in 2014.
District 33 Rep. Brenda Heller made the announcement in a press release Wednesday. She will complete in term and then step down Nov. 30. The Republican has served in the state House of Representatives for seven years.
“She has served the district well,” GOP District Chairman Tim Aichele said. “We’ll miss her as our representative. We’ll miss her and appreciate her service to the district.”
The decision leaves an open seat for District 33. They have not found a replacement for Heller, though there are candidates interested in running, Aichele said.
“There will probably be an announcement coming,” he said. “I would like it to be from that individual. There is some interest in the position.”
Heller did not give a reason for her decision to not run. She told the Hazen Star she was on vacation and wished to wait to comment until after she returned.
The announcement comes as a surprise, Democratic District 33 Chairman Jesse Krieger said.
“I’m surprised,” he said. “I had a perception that Mrs. Heller enjoyed the work that she did. I thought that was something that she thought was a worthy cause.”
