Astros Split and prepare for Section 7 tournament

The Hazen Astros improved their record to 11-3 by splitting against Washburn July 14. The Astros took game one, 3-2, and lost game two, 13-3.

Chase for softball perfection is on

Two teams, still have perfect records in our local softball league. Hazen Cenex/Universal and Hazen Highway Express/Subway are the only two undefeated teams in rec-league play. Only time will tell if either of these teams has the special 1972 Miami Dolphinesque perfection ingredient that the New England Patriots have failed to find.

Volleying, serving and digging

Last week the Hazen high school sponsored a summer volleyball camp. The camp was the 19th sponsored by the school with the support of the Bison Boosters. The goal of the camp was to provide quality instruction for learning and developing skills.

A peek into the future of Hazen Basketball

Last week the Hazen Bison Boosters Basketball Camps took place. The camps were broken into two different age groups. One group was first to fourth graders and the second group was the fifth to eighth graders.

1 season ends, another starts

Last Tuesday the Hazen Bison baseball team had their final outing as a team. The Bison reflected on their 2012 season and were given awards for their efforts, but there is more baseball to play.

Hazen sports some top girls in track

The Hazen girls track team got together to celebrate their 2012 track season at the end of the season banquet May 29. Awards were handed out as the girls enjoyed their last school sanctioned event of the year.

Hazen baseball finishes season

The Hazen Bison Baseball team made a splash though couldn’t quite battle through all of the region’s top-tier teams, ending their season with a 6-1 loss to Velva-Drake-Anamoose in the Region 6 Tournament Tuesday in Garrison.

Bison baseball enters the postseason

At 14-9, the Hazen Bison baseball team has had a successful season by almost anyone’s standards. The team will find out if that regular season success translates into postseason wins when they begin postseason play versus the Max Cossacks May 17 in Hazen.
