Ball game entertains and marks history

The 2009 Turtle Lake-Mercer Trojans took on still more Trojans All Stars (Old Constellations, playing and shooting stars) from past years and came out Trojans winning! The game entertained and amused, but most importantly recognized that things may change but history is what makes a community strong.
The volunteer challengers, from across the past forty years, included the other team who made it to the state competitions and placed sixth in 1977. They came on strong in spirit with the crowd reminded of their particular basketball skills in the ribbing support from their teammates and from the bleacher occupants.
The referees skillfully saw the best, overlooked the worst, and quickly saw obvious fouls, such as the fingers (Jim Kraft) holding the net closed against opposition scoring attempts. And, best of all, there was some pretty good basketball played on this Sunday, July 12, on the Turtle Lake-Mercer gymnasium floor.
Mike Kleingartner added some humor in a strip-down to his old colors when someone decided to “get serious” in their challenge to the 2009 Trojan team.
Announcers Paul Singer and Mark Rauhauser critiqued and remarked on the various aspects of the game, urging Mr. Basketball (Cameron Malzer) to take a shot if he had nothing else to do. He did. He made it.
There was the strangely dressed and painted fan of Grant (and Todd) Singer who seemed to know his way around, at least the basketball court. Reportedly Perry Bloom was under this disguise.
