CM takes baseball sweep

The Central McLean Cougars hauled out the broom for the sweep last Tuesday at Turtle Lake, taking the pair of wins from Sawyer by scores of 13-4 and 12-6.
Jared Mitzel picked up the win in game one, striking out 14 batters to spur the Cougars on to their first win of the season. Mitzel also went 1-2 at the plate with a double, a sacrifice fly and two runs scored.
The Cougars got on the scoreboard early, scoring five runs in the first inning.
"It was nice to see us jump out to a lead and be able to maintain that lead throughout the game," commented Central McLean coach Daren Kurle.
The Cougars tacked on six more runs in the sixth inning to give themselves plenty of cushion for the win.
Game two saw Blake Ander-son pick up the win from the hill, striking out eight batters in his five innings of pitching.
Trapper Jacobs led the team at bat, going 3-for-4, scoring all three times he got on base. Landen Lelm went 2-for-3, scoring three runs, while Mitzel also went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Kurle is happy with the improvement he’s seeing from his players.
