Lions take down Trojans 49-28

The Linton Lions got out of the starting blocks quickly, taking an 8-0 lead Monday night, Dec. 22, on the Trojans’ home court.

Caitlin Jensen got the Trojans on the board at the 3:39 mark of the first quarter with a pair of free throws. Jensen followed with a bucket and a free throw at the 2:58 mark to make the score 10-5 Lions.

The Lions scored the first seven points of the second quarter to take a 23-9 lead; Jenna Bayless ended the run at the 4:36 mark with a put back. From that point, only two points for each team were scored.

The Trojans scored first in the third quarter with Sondrol getting the deuce to cut the Lions lead to 25-15.

The Lions man-to-man defense then took its toll for a few minutes as they forced the Trojans to turn the ball over for a couple of easy buckets and scored six unanswered points and took a 31-15 lead.

The Trojans then went on an 11-6 run into the fourth quarter and cut the Lions lead to 39-28 at the 5:50 mark of the forth quarter.

The Lions scored the last ten points of the game scoring 1 two-pointer and going 8 for 8 from the free-throw line for the 49-28 win.
