Spring sports off and running

The Turtle Lake-Mercer-Mc-Clusky spring sports are off and running.
The first-ever girls fast-pitch softball team has their first game scheduled for April 18.
A total of thirteen girls went out for this sport. They are juniors Kennedy Fricke and Taylor Dammann; sophomores Kristen Youren, Erin Dammann, Katelynn Presser, Melaree Son-drol and Dawn Helmer; freshman Kennedy Sondrol, Mariah Sellon, Tatum Fylling and Trista Crimmins; and eighth graders Alexis Webb and Zoe Smalls.
The games are as far away as Grafton, Watford City, Berthold, Westhope, Kenmare and Bottineau.
Boys baseball has also taken off with uncooperative playing conditions as well. Their games are a little closer to home, only as far away as Bismarck and Minot.
A total of twenty boys have gone out for baseball this season. They are seniors Dalton Hirschkorn, playing the position of catcher, left and right field; Mitchell LeRoy, playing third base; Brenden Reinbold, catcher, pitcher and third base; Nick Slavik, playing pitcher and right field; Jeremy Wirtz, playing pitcher and shortstop; and Adam Peltier, playing left and right field, pitcher and second base. Junior, Landen Lelm is playing second base and catcher. Sophomore, Jared Mitzel, is playing shortstop, pitcher and second base. Hunter Jacobs, freshman, is playing pitcher and first base. Eighth grader, Blake Anderson, is playing pitcher and center field; and Parker Heger is playing left and right field and second base.
