The Trojans girls team won and lost this past week. Tuesday, Dec 9, they traveled to Wilton and picked up a District win, 38-25. Jenna Bayless was the top scorer for the Trojans with 20 points.

Alanna Smith was the leader for the Miners with 16. Friday, Dec. 12, the Trojans suffered a District loss at the hands of the Washburn Cardinals 42-38.

Bayless again was the top scorer for the Trojans with 18 points. Samantha Schell led the Cardinals with 11.

Trojans 38-Miners 25

Tuesday at Wilton the Trojans started out cold in the scoring department, scoring only three points the first quarter and 10 the second quarter.

While the Trojans were cold, the Miners were hot as Alanna Smith poured in ten of the Miners’ first quarter points. Smith scored six more in the second quarter for a 22-13-Miners lead at the half.

The second half was a turn around for both teams as the Trojans caught fire with Jenna Bayless scoring eight points the third quarter. The Trojans defense stepped up and held the Miners scoreless for the third quarter and to only three points for the fourth.

The Trojans had four players in the scoring column in the fourth quarter as they pulled away for the win, 38-25.

Cardinals 42-Trojans 38

Friday, the Trojans started the game with the press as did the Cardinals and both teams handled it well with not many mistakes.

The Trojans took a 4-0 lead but the Cardinals tied the game at eight at the end of the first quarter.

The Trojans scored the first six points of the second quarter. Caitlin Jensen scored first with a pair of free throws. Kelsey Everett and Jenna Bayless scored two-pointers.
