A look back at 2008
It is customary at the beginning of a new year to take note of the past 12 months. So here’s a look at the local headlines from 2008.
A new MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) chapter took root in Velva to help local mothers face the challenges of raising young children.
The ag. department at the Drake and Anamoose Public Schools received national recognition from the National Association of Agricultural Educators. The local program was among only six nationwide to be honored as an Outstanding Middle/Secondary Program. Amanda Buynak Huettl was the Drake-Anamoose instructor.
The U.S. Post Office announced Velva native Eric Sevareid would be one of the five “American Journalists” honored on a postage stamp.
