City hires attorney, mayor candidates
Jim Wilson, attorney from Garrison, presented a proposal to fill the postion, and met with Commissioners Scott Blotter and JD Larson two weeks ago. Wilson has been practicing in Garrison for a little over a year, having moved his office there when he was recruited by Garrison to serve as city attorney.
“Enjoy what I'm doing,” he said. “Originally, I planned to work three days a week in Garrison and two days a week in Grand Forks, but I was busy enough that I closed my Grand Forks office.”
Petitions to run for commission president, or mayor, were due July 17, and three petitions have been validated. Names on the September 17 special election ballot will include former mayor Cindy Shattuck; former deputy city auditor Dawn Lakoduk; and current city commission Darren Johnson.
