City positions open up
Come this June’s city election, two positions at city hall will be open for contention. Mayor Cindy Shattuck and Commissioner Alden Hollenbeck have announced neither will seek re-election.
Shattuck announced at last Thursday’s special meeting that she will leave her mayorial position to seek the District 7 Democrat-NPL nomination to run for the North Dakota House of Representatives.
“I have really enjoyed my time as mayor, and I hate to leave it,” she said. “But this is something I’d really like to do.”
Hollenbeck cited family issues as his reason for leaving the council, and noted he may return at some time in the future.
Anyone wishing to run for either position should stop by the city hall to pick up a petition.
