H1N1 vaccine available
McHenry County First District Health Unit will hold an H1N1 vaccination clinic for children ages 6 months through 4 years on Friday, October 23 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Towner. A limited supply of vaccine is available for pregnant women. Vaccination will be done on a walk-in-basis, no appointments will be taken. There is no charge for this vaccine. Vaccine cannot be given to sick children.
Vaccine will be given to this high-priority age group in both the injectable (shot) form and the nasal spray (flumist) form. The type of vaccine to be given will be determined by several factors, including child’s age, health status and other recent vaccinations.
NOTE: No preservative-free vaccine will be available for children 6 to 23 months. For more information on H1N1 vaccine, log onto our website at www.fdhu.org
First District will continue to receive H1N1 vaccine over the next several weeks. As more vaccine becomes available, it will be made available to additional priority groups. Sick children and/or parents will not be permitted to attend the clinic.
