Main Street project update
At Tuesday morning’s meeting, contractors with the Velva Main Street project anticpated moving to the west lane sometime around Labor Day.
When that move comes, signal lights will once again be place on the south side of the underpass, on west Central, and the intersection of Main and Second Avenue. First Avenue will be closed off on both sides of Main, but east Central access will be open.
This week, water, sewer and services from Park Ave. to the North Hill bridge will be completed, and Keller Paving will prep from Fourth Ave. to Park Ave. for paving. The sidewalks from Second to Third Avenue will be completed, along with curb and gutter, if it’s ready.
Next week, Pinky’s Aggregate will wrap up the underground work to the bridge, and Keller will prep for curb and gutter, prime and then pave to the bridge, while Knife River completes the concrete work.
Dustin Keller of Keller Paving noted the second lift of paving will have to go down the entire east side of the street before the crews move to the west side.
