New credit union on its way
Since June, Velva residents have eyed the large hole at the corner of Second Ave. and Main Street, waiting to see what was going on. The wait is nearly over.
According to Darrell Roos, President of Northern Tier Federal Credit Union, the lot will shortly be the new home of NTFCU’s Velva branch.
“The vault is being installed this week,” he said. “Then, after that, they bring in the building and put it down on top of the vault.”
Roos anticipates the arrival of the prefabricated building shortly after Labor Day. He said it will take approximately three weeks to finish everything after the delivery, so the new facility should be operational by the end of September. Roos said they hope to complete the move from the old site in just one day, and may have to be closed for one Saturday to do so.
The new building will allow the local branch to offer additional services, including two drive-up lanes, a drive-up ATM and safety deposit boxes.
