V.H.S. commencement

Velva High School graduated 39 seniors last Sunday, marking the school 99th commencement.
Ali Podoll was valdictorian and Whitney Boehm, Michael Wiest and Zachary Neibuhr shared salutatorian honors.
Superintendent Steve Dick, Principal Larry Long, speech teacher Claudette Merck and maintenance workers Gerald and Eileen Schatz were recognized for their years of service to the school. All are retiring this year.
The class song, Big Dreams in a Small Town, was performed, and the traditional slide show was presented.
Honor guards for commencement were Austin Balk, Haley Heiser, Katie Odland and Josh Sandy.
