Cross country at state meet

In a stunning performance for Velva’s newest group of athletes, the Aggie cross country girls took sixth at the state meet in Valley City last weekend, and placed two girls among the All State ranks.

Aggies wrap up region title

The highly anticipated meeting of Region 3 powerhouses Velva and Harvey wrapped up the regular season last Friday night as the undefeated Aggies rolled over the Hornets 29-8. The Aggies dominated the game on both sides of the ball and appear ready to tackle whoever comes at them in the playoffs. A “very pleased” Coach Larry Sandy is feeling good about his team.

Running it down

The boys and girls East Region Cross Country meet was held in Cooperstown last Saturday, Oct. 17, and Velva Coach Dave Peterson was very happy with his runners. “There were a lot of highlights during the day,” he said. “Hopefully, this will give the athletes some confidence heading into state next Saturday in Valley City.”

The Velva girls came in with a win and a loss in volleyball play last week, handling Surrey on Oct. 13th, but falling to Bottineau in district play.

Aggies go to 7-0 on season

With freezing temperatures and blowing snow, it felt like football season last Friday night when the Des Lacs-Burlington Lakers came to Velva for a regional pairing. In the end, it was the home team that carried the day as the Aggies beat DLB 26-0 to remain undefeated.

Velva beats Drake-Anamoose

The Aggie netters hosted the Lady Raiders in regular season volleyball play last week and beat Drake-Anamoose 3-1, going 25-14, 25-8, 21-25 and 25-15.

Girls pick up two more wins

A couple of quick district wins put the Aggie netters over the 500 mark for the season. Last week, the Velva girls traveled to Dunseith to hand the Lady Dragons a 3-0 drubbing, going 25-7, 25-5 and 25-10. Later in the week, the girls hosted the TGU Titans in Velva and came out on top again, going 25-19, 25-16 and 25-10.
