Aggie netters hard at it
The Aggie girls have been playing tough this past week, meeting two district foes and coming away with a split bill.
The girls handed the Rugby Panthers a decisive 3-0 defeat on Oct. 6, going 25-11, 25-10 and 26-14.
“This was a big district win,” said Velva Volleyball Coach Diana Thingstad. “Katelyn Sandy nailed an ace for the 26-24 win in the three game set.”
Brittney Thingstad put away 24 points for the Aggies that night, drilling 21 kills, 3 aces and diving for 11 digs. Ali Podoll had an ace, 3 kills and 30 assists, while Ally Nelson nailed 5 kills and 7 digs and Sarah Weidler had 7 kills and an ace.
Whitney Boehm had 4 kills, Jaci Norbury had a kill and 4 digs, and Taylor Brudevold had 12 digs. Sandy went 2 for 2 serving and nailed the game-winning kill.
On Oct. 8, the Aggies played a long, hard match in Westhope, and came up just a little shy, going 25-12, 21-25, 19-25, 25-20 and 7-15.
“A very tough loss,” said Coach Thingstad. “This was important for district seeding.”
